Chinese calligraphy is an Oriental art. It is said that the core of Chinese culture is its philosophy, and at the centre of this core is the Chinese Calligraphy. It is also said that the Chinese culture is condensed in the Chinese calligraphy. To learn Chinese calligraphy is therefore a good way to understand the Chinese culture. 我们常说的书法、书道和书艺，这之间是否有一种可以体察入微的区别？书法是指书法历史演进之中形成的，内在规定性所制约和导引的书写基本形态。书道是指更为自由的、籍借这种形式，只有系个人胸怀的生命姿态。书艺则更侧重指书写形式、所表达的摄人眼目、动人心魄的艺术创作行为，今天它泛指所有与书法相关的书写或类书写的形态。
注：现在汉字书法艺术在中国称“书法”，在日本被称为“書道”，而在韩国则为“書藝”。
